AUTHENTICITY
The Propabilia Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is your assurance that you’ve acquired a genuine piece of movie or television history. Widely recognized in the world of Entertainment Memorabilia, this certificate serves as the gold standard for verifying provenance and documenting the chain of ownership of your collectible.
|
The Propabilia Certificate of Authenticity (COA) prominently features our company logo and website, ensuring its legitimacy. The document lists the production title at the top, with a unique code number and item name displayed below.
Printed on premium heavy card stock, each COA comes with a protective plastic holder for safekeeping. Every certificate is hand-signed by our authenticator and embossed with the Propabilia authenticity seal in the lower right corner, guaranteeing the item’s provenance and authenticity. |
Our items are sourced directly production companies, cast, and crew members. Every item sold through the Propabilia store is guaranteed by our COA to be a authentic piece of production used memorabilia. A record of each item is also kept for future reference. Further provenance in the form of production tags and reference information (see below for examples) is provided whenever possible.
An example of the provenance that can be provided whenever possible is shown below.
If needed, buyers should request further information on the item prior to purchase. Customers should understand that multiple items are manufactured for use in this industry, and not every one of them may be seen on screen. This is especially true for paper items. The terms 'production made' and 'screen match' are often used to differentiate.
In the event of loss, replacement COA's cannot be provided.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Screen Matched - Matches to the scene in the tv series or movie. This has become easier with patterned costume as art departments have become increasingly good at matching exact paint work and distressing on key hero props.
Production used - was made for the production and was a part of the production process. This does not apply to items made from molds after a production has ended.
Screen Used - refers to a production-made or acquired item, such as a prop, costume, or set piece, that appears in a TV series or movie.
Because actual on-screen use can only be verified through a direct screen match, the term is mostly used today as a popular search keyword on auction sites. It was originally introduced by a memorabilia company that has since closed, but collectors continue to recognize it when exploring rare and authentic pieces.
