Quintus's (AKA Quinlan) Special Effect (SFX) bone sword. Custom made for the production of 'The Strain' (FX, 2014-2017). The sword is constructed from plastic, wood, and metal components. The metal blade has been purposefully made at this length and has had green tape applied in order to facilitate CGI blade extension.
This style of sword can be seen in flashback wielded by the character nicknamed 'The Barbarian Gladiator' in Roman times, and worn as a pair with its sheath in the Albania 1837 flashback in the season 2 episode 7 'The Born'. Screen captures are shown for these scenes but do not depict this exact prop.
Made for the production by Walter Klassen FX, this piece can be seen on their Instagram page (08-21-15) together with four other hero bone swords.
